Dr. Justin Bogart
Principal
Dr. Justin Bogart enters his third year as building principal at Piper High School after serving in the same role at Eudora High School in 2023-24. Prior to his time as a principal, Dr. Bogart served as an associate principal at Shawnee Mission South High School from 2019 - 2023. Dr. Bogart started his administrative career at Leavenworth High School in 2015 after teaching English language arts in the DeSoto school district for 20 years. While in the DeSoto district, Dr. Bogart taught a variety of subjects including freshman, sophomore, and senior English, AP Literature, and sports literature. Dr. Bogart started the boys' basketball program at Mill Valley High School in 2000 and coached through the 2014 season. Two of his teams advanced to the final four of the 5A state tournament, and the 2013 team finished 3rd. Dr. Bogart is an alumnus of Tonganoxie High School, the University of Kansas, and Baker University where he completed his two administrative degrees. Dr. Bogart and his wife Kimberly live in Kansas City, Kansas. Outside of education, Dr. Bogart enjoys woodworking, collecting jazz and blues vinyl records, and cheering on the Kansas Jayhawks. He and his wife have three adult children, Maggie, Annie, and Ben.
Brian Gray
Assistant Principal & Athletic Director
Brian Gray is entering his third year as the Athletic and Activities Director at Piper High School and begins his 22nd year serving the district. Prior to his current role, he taught Business Education and has dedicated his career to supporting student success through academics, athletics, and activities. He earned a bachelor's degree in Business and two master's degrees in Education from Fort Hays State University. He also competed collegiately in football and track and field. Throughout his career, Brian has coached football, boys and girls bowling, and girls soccer. He was also a member of two state championship football coaching staffs at St. James Academy. Brian's experience in education and athletics reflects his commitment to developing well-rounded students and building positive school communities. Brian is a proud member of the Piper community. His daughter, Isabella, graduated from Piper High School in 2017. He resides in Kansas City, Kansas.
Brenden Olesen
Assistant Principal
Brenden Olesen is entering his first year as Assistant Principal at Piper High School. Prior to joining Piper, he spent the past ten years at Leavenworth High School, serving students, staff, and families in a variety of roles. Mr. Olesen began his career as a mathematics teacher, spending six years teaching Algebra I, Geometry, Honors Geometry, Algebra II, and Intermediate College Algebra. During that time, he was actively involved in student activities and athletics, serving as Head Boys Soccer Coach, Asst. Girls Soccer Coach, Asst. Boys Tennis Coach, and sponsor of Student Council and Senior Class Cabinet. For the past four years, Mr. Olesen served as Assistant Principal and Activities Director at Leavenworth High School, where he focused on supporting student achievement, strengthening school culture, and expanding opportunities for student involvement. Mr. Olesen earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Saint Mary, where he competed as a collegiate soccer player and was honored with the Teacher of Promise Award. He later earned a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Emporia State University.
Robert Cave
Assistant Principal
Robert Cave, Jr. is starting his fifth year as an assistant principal at Piper High School, serving students, staff, and families in a variety of roles. Mr. Cave has over 25 years of teaching experience in various grades and subjects and has served in numerous leadership roles during his career as an educator. Mr. Cave received the Norman I. Reist Teaching Excellence Award in 2014 and has taught multiple levels of English/Language Arts, Journalism, and 21st Century Academy classes. As a building leader, he aims to create a safe and nurturing educational environment for both staff and students, guided by shared values and beliefs. Mr. Cave and his wife, Jaleah, live in Olathe with their family. Outside of education, he enjoys music, movies, reading, cooking, and spending time with friends and loved ones.
